Paris Olympic 2024 Volunteer Program

There is now a demand for 45,000 international volunteers for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. The volunteers at this international sporting event must be willing to labor without pay.

Both nationals of other nations and those who reside outside of the Schengen area of the EU are welcome, albeit they may have to submit supplementary papers. In order to visit France or another Schengen nation for the purpose of attending a sporting or cultural event, citizens of third countries must first apply for a short-stay Schengen visa.

A round-trip reservation, evidence of lodging, evidence of travel health insurance, and other criteria are currently needed to apply for a tourist Schengen visa. Prior to leaving the Schengen Zone, applicants must make sure their travel document (passport) is still valid for three months. Also to be highlighted is the fact that passports older than ten years are not acceptable for this use.

In accordance with a policy to promote diversity and inclusion and to further the idea that the event is open to all groups of people without any bias or discrimination, they want the volunteer group to include at least 3,000 people with disabilities. This information was obtained from an ABC news report.

Geneviève Darrieussecq, the French government's minister for people with disabilities, sees the Paris 2024 Olympics as a fantastic opportunity to further demonstrate how inclusive her nation is.

"People with disabilities frequently lack self-confidence and believe they are not welcome at any of these gatherings. And now we're telling them, "No, quite the opposite." You are not only not excluded, but we actually need you, the Minister said.

Further encouraging volunteers to join up, the minister emphasized that all people are welcome and that there will be no grounds for discrimination.

Requirements to Apply for Paris Olympic 2024 Volunteer Program

Volunteer candidates must fulfill a number of standards in order to be chosen to assist with this event. They must speak English or French, be at least 18 years old, and be available for a minimum of ten days during the Olympics or Paralympics.

The organizers are willing to accept citizens from outside the EU’s Schengen zone who may need to complete additional paperwork, as well as citizens from third countries.

Citizens of third countries who want to travel to the Schengen countries like France for the purpose of attending either a cultural or a sports event need to apply for a short-stay Schengen visa.

Despite Russia's invasion of Ukraine, the French government has said that volunteers for this major sporting event will also be allowed from Belarus and Russia.

The current prerequisites for requesting a tourist Schengen visa include, among other things, proof of lodging, evidence of travel health insurance, evidence of financial capability, and a roundtrip reservation.

The applicants must make sure that their passport or other form of travel authorization is still valid three months after the day they want to depart the Schengen Area. It should also be highlighted that passports that are older than ten years are not acceptable for this use.

Application Due

Since March 2023, the volunteer portal has been available, and through the internet platform, anyone who is interested can sign up to help for these events. The organizers will also get in touch with applicants to finalize their submissions between September and December 2023.

The organizers will accept volunteer applications up to midnight on May 3, 2023, at which point they will no longer be accepted.
