3. Eligibility Criteria


I. Nationality Requirement 

Must be a citizen of a World Bank member country listed here. Cannot have dual citizenship with any developed country






II. Employment Restriction

A. Cannot be an Executive Director, alternate, or any type of staff (including temporary and consultant appointments) of the World Bank Group organizations:

  1. International Bank for Reconstruction and Development
  2. International Development Association
  3. International Finance Corporation
  4. Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency
  5. International Center for Settlements of Investment Disputes

B. Cannot be a close family relative of the above by blood or adoption (specifically mother, father, sister, half-sister, brother, half-brother, son, daughter, aunt, uncle, niece or nephew).

III. Education/Work Experience Requirements 

A. Must have a bachelor's degree or equivalent that was earned at least 3 years before the scholarship application deadline 

B. Must have at least 3 years of full-time paid work experience related to economic and social development activities  acquired in the last 6 years before the application deadline

  1. Exceptions made for applicants from fragile or conflict-affected countries (see Annex 3) due to limited employment opportunities

IV. Admission Requirement

A. Must have unconditional admission (except for funding) to an approved JJ/WBGSP graduate program  
B. The graduate program must be located outside the applicant's country of citizenship and country of residence.

5. Documents Required


I. Passport copy confirming nationality status  
 Submit a copy of your passport personal details page showing your citizenship status to meet the nationality eligibility criteria.

II. Transcripts and Certificates
All university transcripts and certificates showing outstanding academic excellence.
 Include transcripts and certificates from all tertiary institutes attended showing consistently outstanding academic performance. 

III. Recommendation Letters 
 Include 2-3 references from professors, employers, or community leaders who can objectively evaluate your skills, achievements and future potential.

IV. Personal Statement
 A convincing personal statement clearly articulating your study/career goals and home country commitment
Craft a compelling personal statement explaining your academic/career goals, demonstrating a strong commitment to contribute back in your home country after graduating. 

V. Resume 
Updated resume summarizing educational, professional and community work credentials and accomplishments 
- Prepare an updated resume highlighting all your educational qualifications, work experiences, skills and accomplishments so far throughout your academic and professional journey.

VI. Work Experience
Submit employment proofs like appointment letters, experience letters, payslips and bank statements to validate the required minimum 3 years of full-time development-related work experience.
